I fell asleep for an hour on the couch.
I woke up with a stiff neck and to find that I had been "decorated" by Tim with various ribbons :|

Shattered.
I hate the end of term.
The week-5-6-7-8-lull is over (the period in which Uni is no longer a novelty, everyone has loads of work and no money and hence nothing happens) and it's week 9, which means activity again (as everyone has realised that they've only got 2 weeks left and their bank balance is looking healthy, and it's Christmas soon). So suddently everything's sprung back into life. Nights out, socials, Christmas socials, Christmas dinners, more hours at work...
And it's only Thursday. I've got work tonight and all weekend, Christmas socials Saturday and Sunday night, a gazillion other things to do other than go out eating and drinking...
It's a tough life.
Joe took me out for dinner last weekend. It was really lovely. We went to a new seafood restaraunt in town called Blue Fish (I only knew about it because one of the staff members camein and bought a shed load of stuff for it from work and recommended we go). The food was amazing. The place was amazing. It's pretty small (only about 50 people can dine at any one time) but they'd done the whole place out so nice compared to before (it used to be Bar Bomba).
Other than that, life's been busy but not exciting busy. "Stuff I have to do but don't really wanna do" busy. Although I did go help make a new XTV program last night which was fun. Few extra shifts at work, that kinda thing. Few hours in the lab arguing with the GIS-program. We got shown the room which makes it rain yesterday which was a lot of fun.
I really am quite tired, Joe and I didn't get back from Gareth's until gone half eleven last night and for some reason it seemed like a good idea to sit around talking to Gem for another hour after that. And I had to be up at 7am. Gahh. Feels like I'm getting into more of a routine though, since I'm up at 7am most days now. I prefer the early shifts at work too, there's something nice about doing a five hour shift and still being home before 2pm...
I saw about 50 squirrels on campus/the Impy today (various locations, not all huddled together). This only confirms their plans to take over the Uni/run the Impy. |

It's a sad story.
This week the University "announced" (i.e. it was leaked) that, due to funding issues, they will be closing the University's chemistry, italian and music departments. The Uni is no 7 for Italian in the country (and in the 20s for chemistry and maths). Apparently some members of staff DCS are also being fired and there's to be some changes in other departments too (including SOAGER). Needless to say the students are very upset, not helped by the fact that they had to hear about it on the TV or read about it in the press before they were actually told by the Uni. Gonna be a great last few weeks of term for everyone then :( |

I totally neglect my livejournal.
OK I've not updated for ages so a quick summary of the week will now follow:
Monday Errrrr...can't actually remember? Went to a lecture I guess?
Tuesday Obviously nothing exciting happened here...or I'd remember...oh I went to a couple of lectures...boy they were thrilling...oh and went to the Impy.
Wednesday Got up and went to work for 8:30am for an hour of training, did the shopping (by myself since Joe refused to get up!), went back to town in the afternoon for more bits of shopping I couldn't carry the first time round, went to see Franz Ferdinand at the Great Hall in the evening who were really good. Which is more than can be said for the support band. The Kills. Yeah. Someone should killed them at birth.
ThursdayDay off today so literally did nothing, was a very nice day!
Friday Bought a new computer in the morning, went up to a lecture in the afternoon...
Today Went to work, came home, did some reading...great?

So my first full day at work went okay - some parts went really really fast, other bits dragged but that's to be expected. Kept getting asked why we didn't do things in red...

| First Lecture... |

Went up to register with my department yesterday morning which took..ooh all of 20 minutes, most of which was waiting around? I think I was one of the only people I know that didn't want to change any modules. My tutor is the same as last year...not quite sure how I feel about that one yet but I've had a surprisingly pleasant email from him (he's normally a bit miserable) and Gem (housemate) is in my tutor group so fingers crossed, should be okay (I only have to see him 3 times a term for a grand total of 2 hours and 10 minutes anyway!).
Going to my first lecture soon, so should go finish my lunch. House is great! |

Got up stupidly early this morning, went to campus while Joe waited in for CityLink, who incidently didn't turn up til nearly 2. Went and registered online in the library, and then went and tried to get Keane tickets - failed miserably so went home for some breakfast. Did nothing for the rest of the morning, went to town, paid off the holiday which was rather painful! Did some very exciting shopping consisting of oven gloves and some tin foil...I'm having a rockin' freshers! |

Unpacked now...everything is finally sorted. Nice having a landline too. Still a novelty when it rings - and the doorbell! Went to get some fresh food..aside from that we've not done much today. The freshers have been arriving all afternoon but tonight is pretty quiet although we may go up to the Impy later. Looking forward to the rest of the week and to Tom & Gem arriving. |
